Local organizations are teaming up to help community members in need at a Community Service Day donation drive on Saturday, September 21 and will collect the following items at Lakeside Church, located at 745 Oak Avenue Parkway, from 7 a.m. to Noon.
Bicycles for Children and Adults – Folsom State Prison will collect unwanted bicycles to refurbish. The bicycles are later donated to community members in need.
Glasses – The Folsom Host Lions Club will collect used eyeglasses for the Folsom Vision Project, which provides glasses to those who cannot afford them.
Yarn and Fabric – The Folsom Lake Lions Club will collect yarn and fabric to support the Hooks N Needles program at Folsom State Prison, where inmates crochet, knit and sew a variety of items such as caps, scarves, small blankets and toys. The finished items are then donated to a number of charitable organizations.
Socks – The Rolling Hills Blue Star Moms will collect men’s and women’s socks for overseas military troops.
Purses – Julie’s Purse Project will collect new and gently used purses for distribution to local organizations that assist homeless women, domestic violence and sex trafficking survivors.
LEGOs – BrickDreams– a nationally recognized charity based in Folsom–is collecting unwanted LEGOs for children who have been the victim of domestic violence or abuse.
