FOLSOM, CA- Firefighters from the City of Folsom Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire located in the 700 block of Christina Court in Folsom, CA. Initial reports indicated the fire involved grass and was endangering a home under construction. A total of three fire engines and one chief officer were dispatched to the incident.
Folsom firefighters arrived approximately six minutes after receiving the first 9-1-1 call. The initial arrival report included a 100X100 grass fire fueled by dried grass, moderate to rapid rate of spread. The fire came dangerously close to a home under construction. Folsom firefighters initiated a fire attack from Elvies Lane and from Christina Court. Additional fire companies were requested to assist with the firefight. The fire did burn within a few feet of a home under construction and a 5th wheel travel trailer, however quick action by the first arriving companies prevented any fire extending into the home or travel trailer. The fire was contained within 15 minutes and limited to 3-4 acres in size. Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours to ensure all remaining hot spots were extinguished.
The fire was accidentally ignited by a lawn mower.
There were no injuries or property damage as a result of this fire.
