About the Gallery

The Gallery at 48 Natoma brings high quality, original art exhibits to our community. The City of Folsom opened the gallery in June 2007. Most of the art on display is available for sale; admission to the gallery is free.

“This gallery is featuring artists of great caliber, and is building a reputation for itself in Northern California." Susan Laird, Village Life Newspaper

Current Exhibit: Movement, Mastery & Medium --
Sierra Wax Artists

Through April 1, 2021

Please note: in accordance with current public health guidelines, gallery tours are not available at this time.

It’s time for something completely different. Maybe something unexpected; something unique to each person that sees it.  Abstract art does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead use shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect. A fantastic group from the Sierra Wax Artists will exhibit these types of exceptional paintings in the exhibit, “Movement, Mastery & Medium,” at the Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom from January 22 through April 1, 2021.

This group of artists specialize in encaustic art: a paint made from pigment mixed with melted beeswax and resin and after application fixed by heat.  Often abstract, sometimes narrative, these thick, ooey, gooey paintings are lustrous with layers of rich color. Sierra Wax Artists (SWA) was formed in 2012 from a local group of encaustic artists with the mutual desire to provide information, education and build a connection within the encaustic art community. Sierra Wax Artists’ supports all levels of artists, from beginning explorers to experienced professionals, to expand their encaustic horizons.
