Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary

The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary will reopen
to the public July 17, 2020.

Until further notice, temporary hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Admission will only be available through online ticket purchase in advance; tickets will not be available at the gate. Online ticket sales will open at noon Monday for that week's block of days available. Friends members will need to reserve their admission tickets online as well.
Guests must maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet at all times.

Please rest assured that even on the days the zoo sanctuary is closed, our zookeepers remain on the job to continue the daily care of the zoo sanctuary's animal residents.

Summer Zookeeper Camps for Kids and Teens: CANCELED 

Please note: the Junior and Senior Zookeeper Summer Camps scheduled for July and August have been canceled out of an abundance of caution due to the rising case numbers of COVID-19 in the region. We apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by these unanticipated changes to our camps as we respond to evolving public health mandates. The health and safety of our staff, participants, and community remains our top priority. Participants who had already registered for the camps will be contacted by phone and offered a full refund.  

Summer 2020 Hours and Admission -- Starting July 17

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; online tickets must be purchased in advance; tickets will not be sold at the gate.

Online ticket cost will be $5 per person for ages 2 and older; ages under 2 years are free (no ticket required).

Please note: the zoo sanctuary gift shop and Fisher's Beastro are closed for the summer of 2020.

Location and Directions

The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is located at 403 Stafford Street, Folsom, CA 95630 (in Folsom City Lions Park, at Natoma and Stafford streets).

  • From Highway 50 take the Folsom Blvd exit and turn left onto Folsom Blvd. Follow approximately three miles and turn right onto Natoma Street. Follow for a half mile and turn left onto Stafford Street. Take the first right into the parking lot; the Zoo Sanctuary is located adjacent to the parking lot.
  • From I-80 take the Eureka exit; follow for one mile and turn left onto Douglas Blvd. Follow for approximately three miles and turn right onto Folsom/Auburn Road. Follow for approximately four miles and turn left at the traffic light onto Natoma Street. Follow for a half mile and turn left onto Stafford Street. Take the first right into the parking lot; the Zoo Sanctuary is located adjacent to the parking lot.

  • All hours/days are weather permitting; schedule is subject to change.
  • No pets are allowed in the City of Folsom facilities. Service animals are welcomed and permitted in accordance with the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA). Folsom Valley Railway

The train is closed for the summer of 2020 in accordance with current state and county public health guidelines.

The Folsom Valley Railway operates a miniature scale live steam train on a track that circles through City Lions Park. The open car round-trip ride lasts approximately 10 minutes. Purchase ride tickets and board the train at the depot outside the Zoo's main front gate; tickets are $3/person.
