The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is now open to the public; advance ticket purchase is required for admission.
The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary reopened to the public January 22. Our hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission is only available through online ticket purchase in advance; tickets are not available at the gate. Online tickets are $5 per person for ages 2 and older; ages under 2 years are free (no ticket required).
Online ticket sales open at noon each Monday for that week’s block of tickets. Friends members need to reserve their admission tickets online as well. The number of available tickets is limited each day to allow visitors to maintain social distancing. A mask or cloth face covering is strongly encouraged while visiting the zoo sanctuary and is mandatory when you are not able to maintain a 6-foot distance between yourself and anyone who is not a member of your immediate household. Masks are required while waiting in line to enter the zoo sanctuary. Read more about our online tickets and safety protocol.
All aboard! The Folsom Valley Railway miniature steam train has also reopened. The train operates from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. Tickets are $3 per person and available for purchase onsite directly from the train operator. Train seating is reduced to provide space for social distancing and masks must be worn at all times while waiting in line for the train and while riding the train.
Please rest assured that even on the days the zoo sanctuary is closed, our zookeepers remain on the job to continue the daily care of the zoo sanctuary's animal residents. We will continue to share photos and videos that provide a behind-the-scenes view of daily life at the zoo sanctuary.
Our new online gift shop is always open! Did you know that many of our zoo sanctuary animals are artists? Paintings created by Bernie the raccoon, Buttercup the gecko, Kayli the macaque, and other animals are available for purchase in our online gift shop. Logo wear and other small gift items are also for sale, and all proceeds benefit the animals. Learn more about how the paintings are created and visit our online gift shop today.
You can also find many ways to support the animals through the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary Friends, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the animals.
