The Records Bureau processes and maintains the integrity of police reports, citations, and criminal complaints generated by the officers. Records staff is able to assist with requests during their regularly scheduled hours, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Friday or 7 a.m.- Noon Tuesday through Thursday.

 Records Staff can assist with:

  • Copies of Police Reports.
  • Release of Towed/Stored Vehicles.
  • Repossessed Vehicles.
  • VIN Verification.
  • Clearance Letters.
  • Fingerprints/LiveScan.
  • Release of Property/Evidence.

Release of Towed/Stored Vehicles

Folsom Police Department Vehicle Release requirements:

  • Vehicles will only be released to the registered owner or agent.
    • Note: If the registered owner is unavailable, a notarized affidavit allowing another person to take possession of the vehicle must be submitted to the Police Department.
  • Vehicles will only be released to a valid licensed driver. Vehicle must have current registration.
  • The cost of a vehicle release is $165. Cash Only Please.
    • Note: The storage fees incurred at the Tow Yard are an additional expense.
Repossessed Vehicles

The cost of a Repossession Receipt is $14. Cash Only Please.

 VIN Verification

The Police Department can conduct VIN Verifications. The cost is $45 and is based on officer availability. Cash Only Please.

Clearance Letter

If you are a Folsom resident and need a local criminal history check, you can obtain a Clearance Letter. The letter only includes a search for the City of Folsom. If you need a criminal history check for other areas, contact the California Department of Justice.

To obtain a clearance letter, please:

  • Come in to the Police Department at 46 Natoma Street with a valid form of photo identification.
  • Request and complete the Clearance Letter form.
  • The cost of a Clearance Letter is $40. Cash Only Please.
