The Citizen’s Academy is an educational program designed to create a greater understanding and trust between public safety agencies and the residents of Folsom. The Citizen's Academy is also a required training program for the CAPS (Citizens Assisting Public Safety) Volunteer Program.
The Folsom Police Department covers topics such as Use of Force, CSI, Identity Theft, 9-1-1 reporting, SWAT, Narcotics, Domestic Violence, Active Shooter Training, and K-9 and Mounted Demonstrations. The Folsom Fire Department teaches Emergency Services.
The Citizen's Academy is held annually. The Academy is open to interested residents, age 21 or over. An initial background check will be completed on all applicants. Interested applicants who wish to become CAPS volunteers will be subject to a full law enforcement background.
Applications for Citizen's Academy 2020 are now available. Please complete the application and return to Folsom Police Department during business hours. Please bring your ID for verification purposes. Applications will be accepted until the class reaches maximum enrollment (25 participants).
Citizen's Academy 2020 classes will be held from January 22 through April 8, 2020 on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m.. Please note that class size is limited.
