The City of Folsom’s Animal Services team is committed to exceptional service to Folsom’s four-legged community members and their owners, and to reuniting lost or misplaced pets with their families through adoptions, rescue, or foster programs.
The City of Folsom contracts with the Sacramento SPCA for animal shelter services. Visit their website for shelter hours and location, lost and found pets, and licensing information. If you have a lost or found pet, contact City of Folsom Animal Services at 916-439-2268 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Animal Services will make every effort to reunite pets with owners before transporting the animals to the Sacramento SPCA.
If you find injured wildlife, please contact Wildlife Care at 916-965-9453.
Notify the State Department of Fish Game’s 24-hour dispatch line at 916-358-1312 if you spot large, potentially dangerous wildlife, such as a mountain lion or bear.

Every person who owns a dog or cat over the age of four months is required by law to license their animal. A license tag should be securely fastened to your pet's collar or harness and worn at all times.

The City of Folsom recommends having your dog or cat microchipped, even if they typically remain indoors. When your pet has a microchip, an animal shelter or veterinary clinic can obtain your contact information by scanning the chip and requesting the information from the manufacturer. The City of Folsom offers microchip service for $20. Contact the City of Folsom at 916-355-7230 for more information.
The City of Folsom Animal Services Department offers a low cost monthly rabies clinic for residents, providing an easy and affordable way for pet owners to rabies vaccinate, microchip and license Folsom’s four-legged residents.
The clinic offers low cost rabies vaccinations and pet licensing services and is held on the fourth Wednesday of every month, excluding November and December, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Folsom City Lions Park at 403 Stafford Street.
Rabies vaccinations are offered for pets for $5, and for a limited time a microchip with lifetime registration is free with the purchase or renewal of a City of Folsom pet license at the clinic.
The City requires that all dogs and cats over four months of age be vaccinated against rabies and licensed. The City requests dogs are on leashes and cats are in carriers at the clinic. Cash and checks accepted.
