    Join the 8th annual Folsom’s Ride with the Mayor in celebration of May as Bike Month. Our non-competitive ride begins at Karen’s Bakery and Café in Folsom’s Historic District, and continues to the State Capitol in downtown Sacramento. Participants are treated to free breakfast goodies before the ride and some giveaway items.

    Please arrive at 7:00A to depart at 7:30A.

    This event is free but you must pre-register to participate.

    All ages are welcome!

    Backyard Composting & Grasscycling
    With Marie McKeeth, City of Folsom Senior Environmental Specialist Attendees will learn the techniques and benefits of creating compost from their own garden waste as well as how to recycle lawn clippings using a method called grasscycling. Backyard composting and grasscycling are effective methods for returning essential nutrients back to your landscape while keeping this waste from going into the landfill. At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees may purchase a discounted compost bin for $30 (check only ? made out to City of Folsom) or receive a rebate offer for $25 toward the purchase of a grasscycling (mulching) lawnmower. Registration is limited to Folsom residents only.

    Ages 12+
    No registration fee required but must pre-register.

    In support of regional “2015 May is Bike Month,” Sacramento County, El Dorado County and the Cities of Folsom and Rancho Cordova are closing portions of Scott Road, White Rock Road and Placerville Road. These closures will provide bicyclists and pedestrians with an opportunity to travel on stretches of road -- with no through motor vehicle traffic -- that have rolling hills and impressive views of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

    There is no cost for this event, but please register so that we have an accurate count. With your receipt, you will also receive a flyer with more details and a map. If you have any questions, please call Jim Konopka at 351-3516.

    Trails Day and Celebrate Earth Day/Arbor Day/Creek Week
    Saturday, April 18th - 9:00am-Noon
    The Earth Day events are free, but you must pre-register to participate. Must be age 16 or older to register.

    Trails Day - Join us for the 20th Annual Trails Day! Volunteers will help create paths, build bridges and plant trees. Roll up your sleeves for some hard work and fun in the great outdoors! Volunteers receive a free lunch and commemorative T-shirt (must pre-register to participate).

    Arbor Day/Creek Week Celebration - Celebrate Arbor Day and Creek Week in conjunction with the annual Folsom Trails Day event. Join in and volunteer to plant some trees, help clean up some local waterways, and give back to your community. Ages 16+

    Please meet by 8:30 a.m. in the back parking lot of City Hall to assemble for the ride beginning at 9:00 a.m.

    Join your neighbors, friends and the community for a tour of Folsom’s popular and ever-expanding trail system guided by the City of Folsom’s trails coordinator, Jim Konopka, and Jim Kirstein with the Friends of the Folsom Parkways. The 17-mile community bike ride is mostly flat, and traverses many of the popular trails in and around Folsom. This ride is part of a national “Opening Day for Trails” program coordinated by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy to promote and celebrate the benefits of community trails.

    All riders must wear a bike helmet. Bring your own water/snacks as needed.
